ORLANDO, Fla. – The top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College men’s tennis team wrapped up its Florida trip with an unblemished mark after defeating No. 10 Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) 7-2 on Thursday afternoon.
GGC (10-0) won all six singles matches after trailing 2-1 following doubles action.
Sophomore Valentino Caratini and freshman Daniel Czepielewski recorded a 9-7 triumph on the No. 3 doubles court. However, the Wolves picked up an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles and won a tiebreaker on the No. 2 court to grab the early match advantage.
But, like past matches, singles is where the Grizzlies shined, sweeping all six matches in straight sets.
Sophomore Federico Bonacia began the comeback with a 6-2, 6-3 victory on the No. 2 court. A 6-1, 6-3 win by senior Rafael Coutinho at No. 3 singles gave Georgia Gwinnett College a 3-2 lead.
