LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia Gwinnett College men’s soccer team will become familiar with the Grizzly Soccer Complex this fall, with 11 home matches scattered throughout the upcoming 2019 season.

“After spending most of 2018 on the road, it will be nice to be home for most of this season. This has the making of an exciting year, if we take care of business at home, like we have in the past, and based upon the quality team we have coming in this year,” said Head Coach Steve DeCou.

The Grizzlies are coming off back-to-back NAIA final site appearances and won the Association of Independent Institutions championship – posting a 7-1 record at the Grizzly Soccer Complex in a 12-6-1 season. The program has had winning campaigns for all seven seasons in program history.

The 2019 season will feature three matches against opponents that received votes in the final 2018 NAIA Top 25 poll, including an Oct. 23 match at Southeastern University (Fla.). This will be a rematch of last year’s NAIA Opening Round, won by the Grizzlies 4-0 in Lakeland, Fla.

After opening the season with a trip to Indiana for a pair of matches against Grace College, Aug. 22, and Huntington University, Aug. 24, GGC will host Bryan College (Tenn.), Aug. 27. Then, the team will host the Labor Day Grizzly Classic, playing SCAD Savannah, Aug. 31, and Thomas University (Ga.), Sept. 2. Cumberland University (Tenn.) rounds out the four-team tournament field.

A seven-match home stand will feature matches against Martin Methodist College (Tenn.), Sept. 11; University of Virgin Islands, Sept. 14; University of St. Thomas (Fla.), Sept. 17; and Keiser University (Fla.), Sept. 20. Also, there’s University of Mobile (Ala.), Sept. 28; Florida National University, Oct. 4; and Truett-McConnell University (Ga.), Oct. 9.

The home finale is set for Oct. 28 against A.I.I. opponent Washington Adventist University (Md.).

The Grizzlies will defend the conference tournament championship at home on Nov. 15-16.

The team will prepare for the season by having scrimmages against the U19 team at the Atlanta United Academy, Aug. 10 in Marietta, Ga.; NCAA Division II Clayton State University, Aug. 13 at home; and at NCAA Division I Presbyterian College (N.C.), Aug. 17.
