The Gwinnett Braves have proudly served as the Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves since 2009, when the club moved to Lawrenceville, GA from Richmond, VA. In their nine-year history playing at Coolray Field (formerly Gwinnett Stadium), the G-Braves have supplied the Atlanta Braves with countless star players, including Freddie Freeman, Julio Teheran, Craig Kimbrel and many more.
Preparing for their 10th season in the International League, the Gwinnett Braves are seeking a new identity. The “Braves” moniker – loaded with tradition and respected across baseball – has served the team well since 2009, but the team is seeking a new name that the citizens of Gwinnett County can instantly recognize and call their own. We need your help to create a new team name that will serve the Gwinnett baseball club for 2018 and beyond.
The process begins on May 22 when fans are encouraged to submit their idea for a team name along with an explanation of why that name is significant to Gwinnett. Fans have until June 2 to submit their ideas. The top 5-6 options will be announced and fans will have an opportunity to vote on their favorite name. One fan who submits an entry will win two 2018 season tickets, an official team jersey, and the opportunity to throw out a first pitch during the 2018 season.
