ATLANTA (July 13, 2019) – The Georgia Swarm today announced they have traded forward Joel Tinney to the New England Black Wolves and have received in return a second-round pick in the 2021 NLL Entry Draft.

“Joel is a fantastic competitor and a great teammate. His energy and will to win will be missed,” Swarm Owner and General Manager John Arlotta said. “We just didn’t have a lot of opportunities for him to play with the roster we had this year. I am really pleased that he will get that chance in New England because he is one of the most professional players I have dealt with over my years in the league. I want to thank Joel for his contributions and wish him all the best in New England.”

Tinney, 24, was selected in the second round (No. 18 overall) of the 2018 NLL Entry Draft by the Swarm. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Tinney played in five games with the Swarm, recording five points (1G, 4A) and collecting 20 loose balls.

With the Blue Jays, Tinney served as the team captain during his senior season, leading the team to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals. The speedy midfielder played in 50 games, recording 119 points (68G, 51A) to complement 107 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers.

The deal is currently pending league approval.
