LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The unbeaten Georgia Gwinnett College women’s tennis team won its sixth straight spring match with a 7-0 home victory against NCAA Division II Lander University (S.C.) on Saturday afternoon at the GGC Tennis Facility.
The Grizzlies, winners of 13 straight matches, won six of the seven games at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to grab the only doubles point of the match. The team of juniors Chiara Rebecchi and Debora Scurt was victorious on the No. 3 court, while senior Henar Munoz and sophomore Madeline Bosnjak clinched the doubles point on the No. 2 court.
GGC won all six singles matches in straight sets.
Freshman Tereza Koplova gave the home team a 2-0 lead by winning all 12 games on the No. 5 court. Senior Maria Prados Cid was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 3 singles. Moments later, Munoz sealed the match victory with a 6-3, 6-0 victory on the No. 2 court.
Bosnjak won 12 of the 13 games at the top of the singles lineup and Rebecchi followed with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph on the No. 6 court. Junior Gabrielle Robinson rounded out GGC’s winners with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.
