CLEVELAND, Ga. – Limited to two runs and four hits, the No. 5-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College softball team dropped a pair of road games Saturday afternoon against No. 16 Truett-McConnell University. The Grizzlies now stand 32-10 on the season.

The Bears (37-7) scored three runs in the sixth inning to rally to win the opener, 3-1, and used a four-run second inning to win the second contest, 5-1.

Junior RaeQuinn Rossetti scored on a wild pitch in the top of the third inning to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in the first game. The lead would hold up until Truett-McConnell’s Brie Levy led off the sixth inning with a home run. Two doubles later in the inning brought home two additional runs.

In the second game, Katharine Kozlowski hit an infield single in the first inning to open the scoring. A squeeze play brought home a pair of runs during the four-run second inning.

Holly Janco accounted for GGC’s lone run of the game with a RBI single to right field scoring Aubree Cox.

Pitcher Karley Hobbs picked up the win in both games for the Bears.

 

Turning Point

Truett-McConnell began a late rally in the opener when Brie Levy led off the sixth inning with a towering home run over the left field fence. The blast tied the game, 1-1. The Bears would score two additional runs later in the frame to win the contest 3-1.
