Georgia Gwinnett College Recognizing Military Service Personnel & Veterans During Saturday Baseball, Softball Games
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – A spectacular flyover by an Air Force T-38 Talon supersonic jet will be featured Saturday, April 14, as the Georgia Gwinnett College Office of Athletics recognizes local military personnel and veterans during the annual Military Appreciation Day during home baseball and softball doubleheaders at the Grizzly Athletic Complex.
A ceremonial flyover by the jet originating from Whiteman Airforce Base (Mo.) is scheduled to take place prior to start of the 1 p.m. games, and after military guests and other dignitaries are recognized during a special pregame ceremony. It will be the first such flyover in the history of GGC Athletics.
“We are thrilled to make this special event happen and we encourage everyone to come on out and enjoy this special day, recognize the commitment and sacrifices of our armed forces personnel and veterans, and enjoy a great day at the ballpark,” said Dr. Darin S. Wilson, GGC Director of Athletics.
GGC military veterans wishing to participate in the event are encouraged to make reservations by sending an email message to veterans@ggc.edu.
Military personnel with identification and their guests will receive free admission to the Grizzlies’ baseball and softball games Saturday. Admission to all home games is $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and children more than five years of age. Children under five years old receive free admission. All GGC students, faculty and staff members also get in free, by showing a valid college identification card.
Georgia Gwinnett College’s baseball and softball teams are nationally ranked in the NAIA this spring. The baseball team, ranked No. 2, is hosting Lindenwood University-Belleville, while the No. 1-ranked softball team is hosting Truett-McConnell University.
