Congrats to Norcross High School‘s, Vanessa Blagmon, for being the Gwinnett Sports Commission player of the week!

Vanessa is a 5-foot-8 senior guard for the Lady Blue Devils and has committed to play basketball for the University of South Florida next year. Most recently she has helped her team win three huge games. In the Tennessee Turkey Jamm she helped the Lady Blue win vs. a nationally ranked Homewood-Flossmoor team from Illinois, scoring 18 points, shooting 50% from the field, with 7 rebounds. She then went on to score 11 points and tally 8 rebounds against Tennessee state ranked, White Station High School.
In region play, she scored 20 points in a defeat against Brookwood High School, recently.
Coach Hembree had this to say of Vanessa, “She is a wonderful young lady and a joy to coach. She has a 3.5 GPA, has been chosen as one of the captains on our team, and has scored over 1,000 points in her high school career. She is a relentless competitor on the court but a sweetheart off the court. Vanessa is a fantastic teammate who is always available to our younger girls to help them on and off the court.”
