MOBILE, Ala. – The top-seeded Georgia Gwinnett College women’s tennis team won all three completed singles matches to defeat No. 9-seeded Brenau University (Ga.) 5-1 on Thursday to reach the semifinals of the 2019 NAIA Women’s Tennis National Championships at the Mobile Tennis Center.

The Grizzlies (18-1) advance to play No. 4-seeded William Carey University (Miss.) on Friday, starting at 2 p.m.

Against Brenau, freshman Tereza Koplova completed GGC’s strong singles play by winning all 12 games on the No. 6 court, earning the deciding team’s fifth point of the match.

Earlier, sophomore Madeline Bosnjak registered a 6-1, 6-0 singles victory on the No. 1 court. Then, junior Emerald Able won all 12 games at No. 2 for the team’s fourth point.

GGC took a 2-1 lead after doubles, with victories on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. The duo of Able and Bosnjak recorded an 8-1 victory at the top of the lineup. Seniors Maria Prados Cid and Henar Munoz won eight of the 10 games on the No. 2 court to give the team a 2-0 lead.

Brenau recorded an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles for its only point of the match.
