LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 1-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College men’s tennis team remained undefeated in the spring season with a 4-0 home victory Thursday afternoon against NCAA Division II Emmanuel College (Ga.) at the GGC Tennis Facility.
The Grizzlies (22-0), the defending NAIA national champions, have won 104 straight matches.
The home team got off to a fast start by winning 12 of the 13 games to capture the match‘s only doubles point. Senior Ayed Zatar and sophomore Federico Bonacia won all six games on the No. 1 court.
The tandem of junior Gregor Hutterer and freshman Daniel Czepielewski clinched the point with a 6-1 victory on the No. 3 court.
In singles, GGC earned three straight-set wins to close out the match. Sophomore Valentino Caratini won 12 of 13 games on the No. 3 court before Zatar responded with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 5 singles.
Bonacia earned the team’s fourth point of the match by having a 6-3, 6-0 win at the top of the singles lineup.

“We played very well. I was really proud of our effort, especially in doubles. Our play in doubles set the tone for the rest of the day,” said Head Coach Chase Hodges.
