Congratulations to the Shuma Sports Player of the Week, North Gwinnett’s Caitlyn Miller, who is a member of the varsity air rifle team! Caitlyn is a junior at North Gwinnett where she is competing for the varsity air rifle team under the direction of coach Steve Hartshorne.

Caitlyn played a key role on March 16th when North Gwinnett won their second consecutive Area Six Championship. She broke the school record when by scoring 293 out of a maximum of 300, helping her team set a new school record of 1154. Caitlyn earned her varsity letter her freshman year, something that is very rare at North Gwinnett according to coach Hartshorne.

In addition to being an excellent athlete, Caitlyn is also very active through her academics. She is a three-year member of the Student Council. She has participated for the past 3 years on Mock Trial where she has won best defense attorney twice during competitions. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the Beta Club and the National Arts Association. Caitlyn aspires to go to college and major in Pre-Law and/or Communicative Arts.

Coach Hartshorne said that his favorite memories with Caitlyn are that when the team goes on the road. She is always dancing and singing in the bus, helping her teammates to relax instead of being anxious about the upcoming competition. Coach Hartshorne said that Caitlyn always brings energy and enthusiasm to everything she does, being the one who is ready first for practices and for games.
