Vulcan Announces Second Annual Vulcan Materials Quarry Crusher Run
Norcross Quarry to host Atlanta’s most unique race on May 6.
ATLANTA, GA. (April 4, 2017)—Vulcan Materials Company will host its second annual Vulcan Materials Quarry Crusher Run May 6, 2017, beginning at 8 a.m. This race, which is now held in six cities across the United States started in Columbia, S.C., features a 3.7-mile race that takes runners from the top of the quarry to the bottom and then back to the top. Participants will descend more than 600 feet on the way down and a grade incline on average of 10-percent. Vulcan Materials Quarry Crusher Run is presented by Gwinnett Village Community Improvement District and proceeds benefit the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation Fund.
The Run offers two race categories, Single Crusher (3.7 miles, $40 registration fee), racers can also double down with the Double Crusher and run the course twice (7.4 miles, $50 registration fee). Runners will also receive a t-shirt and custom finisher’s medal. This challenging course offers unbelievable views of the quarry with every step. Participants last year ranged in age from 12 to 71 years old! Truly an event for every fitness level and an experience not to be missed.
This unique race kicks off at 8 a.m. on race day at the Norcross Quarry which is located at 1707 Beaver Ruin Road, Norcross, GA.

Prizes will be awarded for overall winners and age group placers.
A special media preview event will be held at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 12 at Norcross Quarry. All media present will be escorted by golf carts into the quarry to take photos and video (RSVP recommended to Jaime@eggplantevents.com). Select special groups of runners will be allowed to run a partial course that day for an exclusive sneak peek of the race course.

Fun fact: “Crusher run” is a well-known aggregate construction material used in a variety of ways and is produced from Vulcan quarries – hence the name of the race.
