Congrats to North Gwinnett High School‘s, Lauren Elizabeth Reed, for being named the Gwinnett Sports Commission player of the week!
Lauren is a junior at North Gwinnett and just helped her team win a state championship. She batted .500 (6-12) during the tournament, with 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
One thing you may not know about Lauren is that her mother also won the same championship in 1989 while playing for North Gwinnett. Sports editor of the Gwinnett Daily Post, Will Hammock, said, “It was one of the coolest scenes from Columbus, mother and daughter sharing the same championship experience with the same school. Sure, the feats were separated by 27 years and pitches of a different velocity, but that didn’t make it any less unique.”
Congrats on the GHSA State Championship win, Lauren! We know your coaches, teammates, and especially your alumni Bulldog parents are proud of you!
